Ellen Frauenknecht has been reporting from the Frankfurt Stock Exchange for various flaghisp shows of Germany's top public broadcaster ARD/ Das Erste since the summer of 2007. ARD is a joint organization of Germany's regional public-service broadcasters, therefore she also regularly appears on a variety of news programmes of Hessischer Rundfunk, Phoenix or EinsExtra.

Since June 2011, Ellen Frauenknecht is also the face of NDR Aktuell 21.45. Two weeks a month she presents the NDR’s new daily news magazine with reports about politics, economics, culture and society.

From 2006 until 2010 Ellen also presented the business news at the Berlin headquarters of DW TV (Deutsche Welle), Germany's international broadcaster.   
From 2004 until 2006 Ellen worked for CNBC Europe, the leading business and financial television channel. Based in Frankfurt, Ellen gave regular market updates in English as well as in German. She also acted as CNBC's chief ECB correspondent and reported about the general elections in Germany live from Berlin. In addition to this, she hosted a daily show at the World Economic Forum in Davos, broadcast on screens across the WEF's conference halls, on Swiss national television, and CNBC. 
From 1999 until 2004 Ellen worked for Bloomberg TV in London as an anchor and producer. During this time, she also reported from the New York Stock Exchange as well as for Bloomberg's cooperation partners FAZ Business Radio and N24 TV.
Ellen started her journalistic career in 1997 at Europe's largest newpaper publishing group, Axel Springer Verlag. She started out in Hamburg, then went on to Springer's Foreign News Service in London. During this time she published articles in various Springer publications, among them BILD, Die Welt, Welt am Sonntag and Hamburger Abendblatt.

Ellen holds a First Class Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Social Policy from the University of London.
